Barnaby Joyce’s latest spray must be the death of chivalry

THE former deputy Prime Minister has caused yet another scandalous twist in the baby saga that cost him his job — maybe he’s not the father. Wow.

Barnaby Joyce refuses to comment on paternity reports

BARNABY, you are all class.

The deputy prime minister, who quit his job in the world’s slowest and most excruciating public tantrum, blames everyone except himself for the fact his marriage is over and his lover is pregnant.

But wait!

Now Barnaby says it might not be his after all — that nobody ever asked him if he was the father — that even if it wasn’t his child, he’s still raise it as his own.

What a guy.

Does he think we will all appreciate the chivalry of a man who is willing to raise a baby with his girlfriend, even though he doubts its paternity?

If that’s truly the case, why say anything at all?

Barnaby is the one who ensured this relationship came into the public domain in the way it did. Last year he had ample opportunities to calmly and professionally deal with the fact he had a new relationship and a baby on the way (maybe even in the Parliament when he was banging on about the sanctity of traditional marriage).

He chose, instead, to hope nobody would notice he was pushing a pram around Canberra.
