Andrew Bolt: Free Palestine from Hamas terrorists, who want to kill Israel’s Jews

Free Palestine means the destruction of Israel, home to almost half the world’s Jews. It means death to Jews. Are you really OK with that?

I have a question for those so-righteous protesters I hear on our streets chanting: “Free, free Palestine.” What do you mean, “free Palestine”?

Give me an answer that shows you actually do have a plan that’s more than killing Jews.

Talk about Gaza, the coastal strip where 2.5 million Palestinians live under the rule of Hamas, the terrorist group which nearly three weeks ago slaughtered 1400 Israelis.

Do you mean Gaza should be free of Israeli occupation?

Then good news: you can go home. Israel has not occupied Gaza since 2005.

Oh, you didn’t know?

Well, maybe you instead mean Israel should tear down the fence around Gaza, right?

But wait. Part of the fence is actually on Gaza’s border with Egypt. So I guess you just want Israel to tear down its own border fence to “free” the Palestinians of Gaza?

Hmm. But have you thought that through?

You see, Israel’s Jews were reminded not three weeks ago what can happen if Palestinians in Gaza are “free” to come over the border, without checks.

Hamas sent over men who butchered them. Who tortured parents in front of their children. Who raped girls in front of their parents. Who did things to a pregnant woman and unborn child I cannot describe. Who burned babies alive.

Tell me, If Israel “freed” Palestinian Gaza by tearing down the fence, what would then happen to Jews in Israel?

I have a few more questions.

You’re chanting “free, free Palestine” so I am sure you must have studied the issue before offering your solution.

Do you know when Gaza last had an election?

No? It was 2006.

Do you know what the winners, Hamas, did to the losers, Fatah?

No, again?

Well, some of Fatah’s leaders were killed or jailed. Others fled to the West Bank, and Gaza is now a police state, run by Hamas, which is listed here as an Islamist terrorist group.

Hamas rules Gaza, and have you read what Hamas means by “free Palestine”?

Hamas means all of Israel destroyed and in its place an Islamist state.

You should, because it’s right there in its official charter – even in the new and supposedly sanitised version: “The establishment of ‘Israel’ is entirely illegal … Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.”

Let me explain. Hamas means all of Israel destroyed, from between the river Jordan on its eastern border and the Mediterranean Sea on its western one. In its place Hamas wants an Islamist state.

Many would say it also wants all Jews there killed or driven out.

I quote from the original version of the Hamas charter: “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them.”

Likewise, some protesters in Sydney have been yelling “gas the Jews” or “wipe out the Jews”.

So, if you’re a “free Palestine” protester you now have no excuse. You know what that chant means.

No, don’t tell us that’s not really you what you mean when you say “free Palestine”.

In the end, we’re judged less by what we mean than by the consequences of what we say and do.

I agree, many Palestinians from Israel have done it tough.

There they were, living in land run by Turks and then the British, with Jews making up just 11 per cent of the population.

Then they saw hundreds of thousands of Jews flood in, many traumatised by the Holocaust or – later – fleeing persecution and ethnic cleansing in the Middle East and Africa.

These Jews re-created Israel, their ancient homeland, to build somewhere safe for their people, and now make up three quarters of the population.

Muslims in Israel have full rights of citizenship, and it could have worked out but for one thing. Again and again, Muslim armies attacked to wipe out Israel and its Jews.

Terrorist armies tried, too, and now Hamas has managed to kill more Jews in one day than any other killers since the Holocaust.

So how are Jews to share land with people in Gaza who just want them dead? Who kill them in the most barbaric ways I’ve ever heard?

Now, after Hamas’s massacre of the Jews there will never be peace between Israel and Gaza – not until the people of Gaza rise against Hamas and drive out these Jew-hating Islamist butchers.

Free Palestine, sure – but free it from Hamas.
