A year on from the Voice, Labor is still trying to silence and divide us

Labor remains focused and determined to fundamentally change our liberal democracy, our values and our traditions to something out of a Young Labor socialist left policy document.

‘Enough carry-on’: Jacinta Price calls for Voice Yes campaign to ‘move forward’

Monday marks a year since Australians went to the polls and overwhelmingly rejected Anthony Albanese and Labor’s divisive, corrosive, and disingenuous attempt to divide our nation on the basis of race through a Voice to Parliament.

The odds against a No vote were formidable up against the most well-financed and resourced campaign in our history of Australia’s referendums. The Yes campaign had the support of big business, big unions and even bigger celebrity egos.

What the No campaign lacked in celebrity firepower it made up for in the support of the quiet Australians: everyday people concerned about what the Voice might mean for our great Australian democracy.

It’s easy to forget what was at stake, and what Labor and the elites were determined to impose on the Australian people.

As a newly-elected NSW Member of Parliament, I was determined to play an active role in loudly opposing this attempt by Labor to permanently divide our state and nation.

As I told the NSW Parliament during the campaign, what was proposed would “change our democracy, both fundamentally and permanently.

“We are being asked to dismantle the basis of our liberal democracy, which has been built on the basis that whether you are First Fleet, First Nations or one of our most recent citizens, you are an Australian and an equal before the law, with the same rights and the same liberties.”

It would have been reasonable to assume a referendum where over 60% of the Australian people voted No would have decided the matter. Not with the arrogance of Labor. It’s a reminder why all Australians need to remain vigilant at further malign socialist attempts to undermine our liberal democracy.

Labor remains focused and determined to fundamentally change our liberal democracy, our values and our traditions to something out of a Young Labor socialist left policy document.

Federally we see Albanese’s failed and squalid government, still outraged over its defeat, now attempting to legislate a disgraceful Misinformation Bill that would encourage the censorship of statements and honestly held opinions by everyday Australians.

In NSW we see the Minns Government appointing taxpayer funded Commissioners to work on a State Treaty despite nearly three million people of this State saying No to such division just 12 months ago. We see the NSW Labor Government still refusing to rule out a State Voice.

Make no mistake, Labor is on a mission to fundamentally change Australia forever.

Yes, the people of NSW – and Australia – made it clear a year ago yesterday that they want a society that is united, not divided. Labor nevertheless remain focused on their ideological obsessions.

This first anniversary of The Voice referendum is a time for all Australians to remind themselves that Labor and their malign agenda hasn’t gone away.
