NT Police arrest man over alleged domestic violence incident in Malak

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after having boiling water poured over her in an alleged domestic violence incident.

A woman has been left with serious injuries after a man allegedly poured boiling water over her in what police believe was a domestic violence incident.

NT Police allege that on the afternoon of Thursday, August 25 in Malak, a 33-year-old man assaulted the woman multiple times before pouring boiling water on her.

Police say they are known to each other.

The woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.

The man was arrested, released pending further investigations and remanded again on Monday.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and recklessly endanger serious harm.

Superintendent James O’Brien said the man would appear in court on Tuesday.

“Addressing domestic and family violence in our community is one of the highest priorities for the Northern Territory Police Force,” he said.

“Anyone aware of or experiencing domestic and family violence is encouraged to reach out for help. You can contact police at any time on 131 444 or in an emergency call triple-0.”

Woman found in a ‘distressed state’ after sexual assault

A 20-year-old woman has been sexually assaulted in Alawa, with police urging the public for information.

On Friday, August 26 around 8.30pm a member of the public was walking down Lakeside Dr when they found the woman.

Police and St John Ambulance attended and a crime scene was declared.

Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Akers said the woman was found “in a distressed state” before being taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

“Dog Operations was deployed to assist in locating a man believed to be known to the woman however, was unable to locate anyone in the area,” Snr Sgt Akers said.

Police are calling for information in relation to the incident.
