Fire and Rescue NSW said they believed a methylated heater started the fire this morning.

Six trucks and more than 20 firefighters arrived to the blaze that has left the unit block torched.

Firefighters also discovered a cat among the chaos that was given oxygen by firefighters and rushed to a nearby vet clinic by truck.
