THE longtime partner of a woman found dead inside a southern Sydney apartment has been charged with her murder.
The body of Dawn Butterworth, 67, was discovered about 11am yesterday when a home-care nurse attended the house in Victoria Ave, Penshurst for a routine check.
Next to her, lay her bleeding long-time partner, Allan Greentree, who it is alleged tried to harm himself.
Preliminary investigations suggest bingo lover Ms Butterworth, 67, died as a result of a morphine overdose but police have refused to comment.
Mr Greentree, 62, was released from St George Hospital late yesterday and charged with murder.
His will appear at Sutherland Local Court today.
While police piece together the incidents leading up to the woman’s death, her friends paid tribute to her on Facebook, commenting on her constant smile and love of bingo.
