A woman has claimed she witnessed a UFO fly over a well-known Byron Bay hippie hotspot, with punters joining in on the strange speculation.
Angela Grace took to Facebook on Christmas Eve with photos and videos of “strange clouds” over Crystal Castle in Byron Bay, certain “they looked like UFOs”.
The post attracted a barrage of comments from users, with one saying “I’ll have what she’s having”.
“FFS. They are just clouds! No need for it,” one user wrote.
“Those are God farts. Everyone knows that,” another added.
Science pundits on the thread claimed the cloud shapes were not UFOs, but merely “Lenticular clouds”.
“Lenticular clouds are rare, saucer-shaped weather formations which typically form over mountain peaks,” a user wrote.
“Just nature doing its thing. As it has done for billions of years,” another added.
But a few users jumped on the extraterrestrial bandwagon, with one saying “you have made a believer out of me”.
Another said the post should be shared on the QLD UFO sighting page.
One user took a swipe at Crystal Castle, saying the woman’s UFO theory was “about as outrageous as the admission price at the front gate of that place”.
Another said that UFOs were “attracted by the crystals” at the popular Byron Bay tourist attraction.
