Woman bashed to death with cricket bat in Bundeena

THE man wanted in relation to the brutal murder of child care worker Tina Kontozis has been arrested after a city-wide manhunt.
Stephen Boyd, 51, was pulled over by police on Wallace St, Braidwood, about 5pm and taken into custody.
Police had been searching for the man since his partner was beaten to death with a cricket bat on Sunday afternoon.
Ms Kontozis’ 17-year-old son was also injured and is recovering in hospital.
No charges have yet been laid.
Family and friends described the woman as “a beautiful soul” and will tonight pay tribute to her life with a private beachside memorial.
Jan O’Callaghan said she was a friendly and bubbly lady who was always happy help.
“She was the loveliest person. She was quite well known, she had lived here for a long time,” she said.
“She was very nurturing. She was an inspiration to all in Bundeena.”
Police closed off a stretch of Beachcomber Ave as forensics officers and detectives searched the property.
A major manhunt concentrating in the areas of Maianbar was launched as police moved to lock down the area following the murder.
Police officers blocked off the entry point Bundeena on Bundeena Drive.
Investigations into the death are continuing.
