A woman is in an induced coma after falling down six rows of seats at a Robbie Williams concert in Sydney on Thursday night.

It is understood the woman, believed to be aged in her 70s, was attempting to climb over rows of chairs at Allianz Stadium when she slipped, tumbling down six rows of seats.

Emergency services were called to Moore Park about 10.15pm last night, after reports a woman had fallen.

The woman was treated for critical injuries to her head and face, before being rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she is understood to be in an induced coma.

Venues NSW confirmed a serious incident occurred following last night’s concert.

“This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the patron and their family during this time,” a spokesman said.

“The patron was attended to immediately by venue staff and a nearby guest who is a qualified medical professional. Medics arrived shortly after and the patron was taken from the venue by ambulance to hospital.

“We are working with NSW Police and will provide further updates as they become available.”

It is not the first time an Australian has been severely injured after falling during a Robbie Williams concert.

In 2003, a 23-year-old male was left in a critical condition after plummeting from a railing while dancing at a Melbourne concert.

The male was believed to be standing on a railing when he slipped, falling several metres and landing on the crowd below.

The Box Hill man was treated by St John first aid volunteers before being taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with head injuries.

More than 38,000 fans flocked to Allianz Stadium on Thursday night to watch the English singer-songwriter, who pursued a solo career after his split with British pop group Take That.

The Sydney concert kicked off his Australian tour.

Williams’ new Netflix documentary series, featuring his struggles with fame and addiction, has reached No.1 this week.
