She was detailing her last recollections of William from the supervised contact visit she had with him on August 21, at Chipmunks play centre at Macquarie Park.

“Just before then (a social worker) called me to confirm the visit and he also told me William had a black eye,” she told police.

She said she was distressed at not knowing who was looking after her son.

“I am a bit worried about … William because I think (he’s) a bit too skinny. It’s hard because I don’t know the carers, I don’t know where they live and I never get to see them.”

The police statement, which can be released after it was used as evidence in this week’s coronial inquest into William disappearance, also shed new light on why William was removed from his biological family.

She told police there was a history of domestic violence in her relationship with William’s father and she herself had assaulted a police officer.

She said her next contact visit with William — she was allowed six each year — was scheduled for October, the month after he vanished.

“Up until the beginning of the year William called me Mum,” she told police.

“The last time I saw William he didn’t really call me anything but the visit before that he called me his Birth Mum. It upsets me.

“I want my children back. I don’t want them to be with them forever.”

All four biological and foster parents gave evidence in person at this week’s inquest before Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame, detailing how he wandered into oblivion while playing happily in his Spider-Man suit.

Another four weeks of hearings are due to take place in August, focusing on persons of interest in the case.
