Before it became the scene of the mysterious disappearance of nine-year-old Charlise Mutten, the Wildenstein property holding forged a reputation as an insta-famous wedding destination for stars such as Buddy Franklin and Jesinta Campbell and Channel Nine presenter Julie Snook and actor Hugo Johnstone-Burt.
The transformation of the Mount Wilson weekend home was the work of interior designer and event planner James Stein Jr — whose family had owned Wildenstein for more than two decades — and his husband, PR mover and shaker Keegan Buzza.
The 12-acre allotment features cool climate gardens — the design of which Stein Jr attributes to his father — and art, such as La Paloma urns as well as bronze and marble sculptures throughout the grounds.
“We’ve always been surrounded by fabulous and interesting art and didn’t think that should only be confined to the house,” Stein Jr told website, The Design Files.
The decision to turn the Stein family’s weekend getaway into a wedding and event location was the product of Stein Jr and Buzza’s nuptials at Wildenstein in 2015.
“People saw our photos and started sking about whether we offered weddings at the property,” Stein Jr told the Design Files.
A year later former Miss Universe winner Campbell and her AFL star fiance put the exclusive location on the map with their private ceremony on November 4, 2016 with the bride resplendent in a Vera Wang dress.
Last year it hosted the nuptials of Snook and Johnstone-Burt with the presenter stealing the show in a custom Velani gown.
