Close friends including Mr Ledinh’s best friend Van Nguyen arrived around midday to comfort the grieving family shortly after police left.

Outside the house friend Vivian Vo said that they had told Mr Ledinh’s three children, aged five, three and 15 months, that Daddy had gone to heaven.

“All the kids are not well and the youngest one is always looking for Daddy,” she said.

“They are so tired now, we put them to sleep, the youngest one is finding it very hard to understand what’s happening.

“We try to say Daddy has gone to heaven but they not really understand what has happened.

“The oldest one is finding it really hard to believe it.

“We know it is very hard to hold the tears, but we are doing it for the children.”

She said that the children were on their way to visit their grandparents in Vietnam when Mr Ledinh’s wife got the heartbreaking news her husband had died.

“This was the third time she visited her family in Vietnam, her parents were missing their grandkids.

“On the way of going to Vietnam she heard that her husband had been murdered so she had to come back.”

The 65-year-old lawyer was gunned down outside the Bankstown Happy Cup Cafe on Tuesday at 3.40pm.

Homicide Squad described the brutal daylight murder as a targeted act of pure “evil”.

The Daily Telegraph today revealed Mr Ledinh was deep in debt and owed money to “the wrong people” at the time of his streetside execution in the heart of Bankstown.

Detectives are investigating whether the 65-year-old father of five was shot dead as payback as they look into the secret life of the suburban solicitor.

A second theory is whether Mr Ledinh was the target of a “Cape Fear” style revenge attack by a disgruntled client when he was shot in the back.

The Homicide Squad has established Strike Force Eugene to investigate the shooting as they delve into Mr Ledinh’s business life as well as his legal life where he represented everyone from drug dealers to involvement in family law cases and defamation trials.
