In a new twist to Sydney’s gangland war, it can now be revealed the townhouse shot up in Auburn on Monday was occupied by a well-known Hells Angels associate.

While it was initially thought the target was the residence of Hamze matriarch Maha Hamze, police are now investigating if the unit four doors down was targeted because of the occupant’s bikie links.

The Hells Angels are known to be associated with the extended Hamze family while their arch-rivals, the Alameddines have strong links with the Comancheros.

Last night, in a development unrelated to the shooting on Monday, a 32-year-old Bossley Park man and his associates were arrested by Strikeforce Raptor.

They seized two handguns, cash, luxury items and illegal drugs and arrested four men and a woman.

“While this was an investigation into drug supply, the arrests are part of a bigger picture in suppressing gang members that may be involved in the ongoing feud in southwest Sydney,” a police source said.

In June last year police set up Strike Force Ethne to investigate a criminal syndicate involved in the supply of illicit drugs – mainly ice.

Yesterday they pounced and arrested two men – aged 32 and 34 – in the carpark of a pub at Mount Pritchard just after 1.30pm.

They also executed six search warrants at homes at Bossley Park, Hinchinbrook, Mount Pritchard, St Johns Park, Wentworth Point, and West Hoxton and arrested two men aged 28 and 32 as well as a 31-year old woman.

During the searches a loaded .22 Smith & Wesson and a .357 Magnum, which will undergo forensic and ballistic examination, were seized.

They also found ammunition, a ballistic vest, knuckle dusters, more than $27,000 cash, cannabis and three cannabis plants, prescription drugs, electronic devices, mobile phones, documentation and various luxury items, suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Detectives also seized more than 1kg of methylamphetamine (ice) with an estimated potential street value of $550,000.

The 32-year-old Bossley Park man was charged with large commercial drug supply, direct criminal group contribute criminal activity, knowingly derive material benefit from criminal group, and possess prohibited weapon.

Police will allege in court that the man was the upline supplier for the other men and directed the activities of the criminal group.
