PLANS for Sydney’s newest suburb show the north-western enclave will be home to more than 4500 people sharing a town centre, 12 playing fields and 90 hectares of open space.
Development of West Schofields, which will have its own postcode, is now under way, with the 20-year masterplan for the suburb to be released today.
It will be built next to Schofields and Marsden Park and will largely be built on undeveloped land.
It will have about 3850 houses as well as 490 villas, townhouses or apartments that will be built over a shopping centre.
Minister for Housing and Planning Anthony Roberts said the masterplan for the new suburb would be open for community feedback.

“It includes details of more public space and new playing fields to ensure a thriving
community for West Schofields,” he said.
“Residents will be able to enjoy more than 90 hectares of open space including 12 double playing fields and several new local parks under the new plan.
“We are also catering for and encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle for residents, with the
inclusion of new footpaths and cycleways to be built alongside new homes”.
To accommodate the new suburb, Garfield Rd and Schofields Rd will be widened and Townson Rd and Burdekin Rd may be extended.
