FOR almost 16 years, the mystery of what happened to David Breckenridge in the last eight minutes of his life has gone unsolved.
Between 11.52pm and midnight on August 10, 2002, David was stabbed 24 times as he walked along the Pacific Highway in St Leonards.
We know David left work in the city and headed towards St Leonards to watch a footy game with his best mate Phil Noyce.
Phil lived in an apartment block on Angelo Road, Greenwich, in a cul-de-sac with a grassy area that lead onto the Pacific Highway.

David had stopped to pick up a sixpack of beer from St Leonards Tavern. The tavern was owned by the same company who owned Moreton’s Hotel — where David worked and had just finished his shift.
After leaving the tavern, he used a pay phone near Herbert Street on the Pacific Highway to call Phil to say he was on he way over to his place.
Eight minutes later he was dead. Just metres away from his destination. He was stabbed 24 times His killer has never been found.
