Vikki Campion and Barnaby Joyce welcome second baby

The second Barna-baby is here with former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce and his partner Vikki Campion welcoming a new baby boy into their family last night.

A baby boy was born last night to Barnaby Joyce and his partner Vikki Campion.

To be named Tom, after Mr Joyce’s grandfather, it is the second child in 14 months for the former Nationals leader and his partner Vikki Campion.

Their first son, Sebastian, was born last April, two months after Mr Joyce, 52, was forced to resign as deputy Prime Minister over his extramarital relationship with his pregnant former staffer Ms Campion, 34.

Mr Joyce subsequently divorced wife Natalie with whom he has four daughters, Bridgette, Julia, Caroline, and Odette.

Tom is believed to have been born at Armidale public hospital, like his brother Sebastian.

Ms Campion, a former journalist and deputy chief of staff at The Daily Telegraph, left Mr Joyce’s office in April 2017 to work for one of Mr Joyce’s closest colleagues, Resources Minister Matt Canavan.

When Mr Canavan resigned from Cabinet amid questions over his Italian citizenship, she joined the office of ­Nationals chief parliamentary Whip Damian Drum. She then lost her job when Mr Drum moved from his role as Whip to the Assistant Minister to the then Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Joyce.

Recently, Mr Joyce weathered the backlash from his public marriage breakdown to pull off a thumping victory in his rural seat of New England at the federal election.

A small swing was recorded in Mr Joyce’s favour since the last general, when he was still married to his first wife Natalie.

“50 per cent of people go through divorces. A lot of people thought: ‘That could be me you’re talking about’,” Mr Joyce said.
