The cleanliness of Sydney’s trains has been called into question again after video emerged of dust clouds streaming out of a seat.

The filthy state of Sydney‘s trains has been revealed again with clouds of dust and dirt seen emerging from seats.

In a viral video posted to TikTok, a young male passenger is seen on-board a T1 train on Sydney‘s North Shore line with a friend.

But as the train travels between Asquith and Hornsby, the teen takes matters into his own hands, beating the base of the seat with a hammer to show just how dirty they really are.

“Sydney Trains clean your seats,” the video was captioned

Huge puffs of dust and dirt spew out of the fabric with each strike, coating the seat in a brown grime as the boy continues to hit the seat with the hammer.

“Sydney Trains clear your f*n seats,” the video was captioned.

The TikTok clip has over 950,000 views and almost 90,000 likes on the app.

Disgusted viewers didn’t hold back in the comments.

“Those seats look like they haven‘t been cleaned in decades,” one wrote.

“I feel like I‘m breathing in particles just watching,” another added.

“I will never be able to sit on a train again,” a third wrote.

“Yuck.”

A Transport for NSW spokesman said the cleaning processes for the state’s public transport network were being reviewed “as necessary.

“The COVIDSafe Transport Plan remains in place across the network, including enhanced cleaning... an extra 2,000 cleaners have been deployed across the network since March 2020, who have carried out and extra 4 million hours of cleaning,” the spokesman said.

“Transport for NSW considers cleaning and hygiene important components of our Covid Safe program and our cleaning program continues to be reviewed and any additional measures identified as necessary will be carried out.”
