Married marines have confirmed “mostly everyone” uses dating apps when they hit our shores.

Thousands of the American troops, who have docked on the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp, have taken to Sydney’s pubs and clubs in search of a date.

The Daily Telegraph revealed the marines were ready “let loose” despite the troops denying they were on the app.

“I don’t use Tinder. I’m married… That’s what I tell my wife,” Erik Walters, a Marine from Wisconsin joked.

“Seriously, I don’t use it, but you can see all the other guys on the ship use those types of applications to meet girls.

“Everyone talks about it before they leave the ship. They talk about where they’re going and who they’re going to meet.”

A number of marines were asked if they were on the app this morning, they all denied they used it to meet girls.

One marine remarked that this reporter was asking him the question because “he was trying to chat me up”.

Some have updated their profiles to show themselves pictured with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background while others have profiles littered with military references, pictures of themselves in fatigues and images of them holding weapons.

Another married marine said his wife back in the US saw The Daily Telegraph’s story about marines enjoying themselves at strip clubs in Kings Cross.

“My wife in Georgia actually saw the story about marines going into to strip clubs here, it wasn’t me! It was funny. I had to assure her that I hadn’t been,” he said.

“We are normally based in Japan so when we come down here it is really nice. It is the first time we’ve been to Sydney and it is great.

“We’ve been out to loads of different places like the clubs and bars. My buddy only just got back to the ship before we came out for breakfast, so we’re dragging him with us to the zoo.”

SECRET TINDER TEXTS REVEALED AS US MARINES HUNT FOR SYDNEY DATES

It’s been 80 years since American soldiers first sailed into Sydney shores and while the times have changed their intentions have not.

Thousands of Marines this week sailed into Sydney heads on the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp with many wanting to find a date and “let loose”.

Pictured on their phones shortly after sailing into the harbour, dozens have taken to online dating app Tinder in the hope of finding a “match” Down Under.

Some have updated their profiles to show themselves pictured with the famed Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background while others have profiles littered with military references, pictures of themselves in fatigues and images of them holding weapons.

The Daily Telegraph visited Woolloomooloo yesterday with the app downloaded and within minutes received a flurry of favourable “swipes.”

One man, Morgan said he was here to enjoy himself.

“I’m just here to explore, have fun and see the beautiful women,” he wrote.

“Lucky for me I matched with one of the best ones in Sydney”.

When pressed about what his intentions were the American responded: “Go out see all of Sydney and then find an extremely gorgeous girl to get a drink with and take back to my hotel room for a few hours everyday til I leave on the boat for a few more months.”

Another sailor said they were not allowed to bring guests back to the ship, so they had to get “creative”.

“So if I were to pick up a beautiful woman everything from a date to wherever it goes has to be done off ship,” Cullen wrote. “Usually (we go) to that person’s house or get creative lol.”

He added, that ship life is “pretty harsh” and when they dock they “let loose”.

“Going out and having a good time. Going out and getting laid. Going out and getting wasted.”

On Tuesday night, The Daily Telegraph tracked down several marines at Showgirls on Kings Cross.

The troops made an orderly line at the ATM inside the strip club and cheered whenever one of the dancers removed an item of clothing.

The wave of American soldiers hitting our shores in search of food, drink and a date is nothing new with almost 100,000 service personnel passing through Australia during World War II.

The troops started arriving in December 1941 and were labelled “oversexed and overpaid”. Many Australian women found the Americans desirable and more than 12,000 Aussie women became war brides.

Australian men, women and businesses are enjoying the visit with the Marines bringing thousands of dollars into the local economy.

Potts Point Partnership Chair Carrington Brigham told The Daily Telegraph the Marines have brought business in on typically quiet nights.

“It has been immediately beneficial to local businesses, as of Tuesday night we have had American Marines in one of our new wine bars,” he said.

“They came and experienced Australian wine and Australian produce. It was great that they were there spending money on a night normally quiet midweek night.

“There were about 10 of them and they each spent between $100 and $300.”
