A father-of-one has told a court he regrets making a trip to the shops on an unlicensed motorcycle, without a helmet on Friday night. But he denied allegations he spat and coughed on police.

A quick run to the shops on an unlicensed bike has left one man in custody after he allegedly spat and coughed at police.
Tyren Ray Maru was caught riding an unlicensed motorcycle without a helmet on Tooronga Terrace at Beverly Hills in Sydney’s south on Friday night.
Police said when they stopped to speak to the 31-year-old, he allegedly cough and spat at them.
The father-of-one eventually underwent a roadside breath test and returned a reading of 0.079.
He was charged with 10 offences, including traffic offences and being outside without a reasonable excuse in violation of COVID-19 restrictions.
Parramatta Bail Court heard on Saturday Maru admitted to the driving offences, he denied spitting or coughing at police.
“He indicates that it was a stupid decision he made to take the bike up the shops and get some things,” his legal solicitor told the court in applying for bail.
“He is regretful for that but he does deny a number of allegations in the fact sheet.”
The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to traffic offences, including low range drink driving and driving an unlicensed vehicle, and admitted to not acting in accordance with the COVID-19 public health orders.
Maru was granted conditional bail, which the prosecution did not oppose, and is due to appear in Sutherland Local Court in June.
Police have been cracking down on spitters amid the coronavirus pandemic with the recent introduction of a new $5000 on the spot fine for spitting at officers.
In a separate incident on Thursday night, a 25-year-old man was slapped with a fine for spitting on a hospital security guard on the Central Coast.
Just before midnight, police were called to reports of domestic violence at a home in Berkeley Vale.
Police were told the man left the house, crashed his car nearby and then returned only to be detained.
He was taken to Wyong Hospital for treatment and allegedly spat in the face of a 56-year-old security guard.
The man was fined $5000 yesterday.
