Driver dead after fiery truck collision on Hume Highway

A person has died after two trucks collided early on Thursday morning, resulting in the Hume Highway being shutdown.

Fears for driver after highway truck crash

A person has been confirmed dead after a two truck crash, which shut down the Hume Highway and caused mayhem when one of the vehicles exploded into flames.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area after the crash early on Thursday morning caused significant traffic disruptions.

Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command were called to the Hume Highway, Blair Athol, following reports of a crash.

Emergency services attended and found two trucks had collided and one truck engulfed in flames.

Paramedics have treated a driver at the scene for various injuries.

One of the drivers died at the scene. They are yet to be formally identified.

The incident occurred around 6.30am.

All southbound lanes of the Hume Motorway are closed at Blair Athol, near Campbelltown and drivers are being turned away from the area.

Authorities are advising travellers to seek alternate routes as clean-up and investigations continue.
