Two men sprung strapping ‘teal’ candidate signs on power poles

Carrying a ladder and a large number of corflutes for Climate 200 candidate Nicolette Boele, the men are alleged to have told concerned residents to “f..k off”. Watch the video: LANGUAGE WARNING.

Two people have been sprung illegally strapping “dozens’’ of corflutes for Climate 200-backed candidate Nicolette Boele to power poles in the seat of Bradfield.

A video obtained by The Daily Telegraph shows the men carrying a ladder and a trolley with a large number of political posters showing Ms Boele’s face.

It is understood the footage was captured on the Pacific Hwy about 9.45pm on Wednesday. The incident was witnessed by multiple concerned residents.

One is heard in the video asking the pair: “Are you being paid to do this?”

The men laugh before one replies: “You actually are making our evening interesting.”

Over the next three minutes they are filmed walking to other telegraph poles and attaching more posters of Ms Boele. As one of the men stands on a ladder, the resident is heard saying: “It is illegal to do this.”

The man appeared to reply: “F... off”. Do you want to come with us?”

The resident who witnessed the actions, but did not wish to be identified, said he had seen dozens of signs for Ms Boele on telegraph poles in the local area.

In February, Ausgrid requested all political candidates “not attach campaign postersor corflutes to power poles or any electrical assets”, warning it “poses a safety risk and can interfere with electrical work.”

“As well as being illegal, attaching posters to power poles poses many risks to those people and can result in significantcosts for removal and repair.’’

The Liberal Party holds a 3.4 per cent margin in Bradfield.

The incident comes weeks after Ms Boele was forced to apologise after making a joke in poor taste, when she told a 19-year-old hairdresser her work “was so good and I didn’t even have sex with you”.

Ms Boele was approached for comment on Thursday.

A Liberal campaign spokesman said: “Time and again we have seen the hypocrisy of the teals on full display.”

“Whether it is on their voting records or their use of push polling, they have revealed themselves to be no better than the Labor Party,” he said.

“While this latest indiscretion is by no means the most egregious, it is certainly emblematic of their dirty tactics.”
