A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged break-in and sexual touching on the Far North Coast earlier this year.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation following reports a man broke into a Banora Point home on February 1 this year, where he allegedly sexually touched an 18-year-old woman before fleeing.

Following a public appeal for assistance, Tweed/Byron detectives, assisted by officers from Queensland Police, executed a search warrant on a property at Haig Street, Coolangatta, on Thursday afternoon.

A number of items were seized for further examination.

Later the same day, a 28-year-old man was arrested, taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent knowing people there and sexually touch another person without consent.

He was refused police bail and appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday.

He was subsequently granted conditional bail and will appear in the same court on April 24.
