Semi trailer on fire on Pacific Highway, Stotts Creek in Tweed causes traffic delays on Monday morning

A fierce fire has ripped through a truck on the Pacific Highway in the Tweed this morning, impacting traffic. Here’s what we know.

Truck fire at Tweed Heads

A truck has bust into flames on the Pacific Highway in the Tweed this morning.

Five fire trucks were called to the semi trailer on fire by the road in the northbound lanes at Stotts Creek about 7am on Monday, with hazmat crews attending.

The fire was extinguished by about 8.30am, with one lane closed while fire crews battled the blaze.

Tweed residents took to local Facebook pages to share videos and pictures of flames licking at the truck and smoke billowing into the air.

A Rural Fire Service spokesman said the cause of the truck fire was unclear.

Paramedics attended the scene, but no one was treated for an injury.

The highway was reopened by 8.50am.
