A man has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after he allegedly crashed a car while on the run from police with two others in the car in the Tweed Shire.
Tweed/Byron Police District officers tried to stop a white Holden Commodore on Kyogle Rd at Murwillumbah about 9.30am on Wednesday, according to a statement.
“When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated,” police state.
“A short time later, the vehicle lost control on an unsealed road before crashing into a power pole.”
A man alleged to be the driver, 21, was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police state a 17-year-old girl and 24-year-old man were also assessed by paramedics.
The girl was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for observation, while the man was taken to Murwillumbah Police Station, where “he is assisting police with their inquiries”.
