A Tweed Shire nurse has been charged with multiple child sex offences.

Eddy Viegas, 51, had his matter mentioned in Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday.

It is alleged he touched a child on two occasions in 2021.

It is further alleged he intentionally incited a child to carry out a sexual act with or towards him.

He faces four counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 and two counts of aggravated incitement of a child between 10 and 16 to do a sexual act to them.

No pleas have been entered to the charges

He was granted bail on October 7 by the court.

Defence lawyer Urania Zafiris appeared by email on Monday and indicated their office was yet to receive the brief of evidence and she’d had difficult contacting the officer in charge.

Crown prosecutor Tess McQuade said the brief had been sent a week prior.

She asked the matter be given some priority by the court due to the serious nature of the allegations.

The case will next been in Tweed Heads Local Court on January 14, 2022.

Mr Viegas remains on bail.
