Teenagers arrested in cross border police chase ending in Murwillumbah
Four youths – including girls aged 14 to 17, allegedly stole a car from Brisbane before engaging in a police chase reaching speeds of up to 175km per hour at Tweed Heads.

Four teenagers have been arrested following a high speed cross-border police chase in an allegedly stolen vehicle on Sunday night.
About 8.40pm officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District – with the assistance of Queensland PolAir – observed a white Mazda CX5 travelling south on the M1 Motorway at Tweed Heads.
It’s understood the vehicle had been stolen from a Brisbane property earlier on Sunday.
Police initiated a pursuit with the car allegedly travelling at speeds of approximately 175km per hour in a 110km per hour zone.
The Mazda turned onto the Tweed Valley Way at Yelgun, before approaching Murwillumbah where the car turned into West End Street and came to a stop.
Police arrested four teenagers aged between 14 and 17 and took them back to Tweed Heads Police Station.
A 17-year-old girl was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and receive etc property stolen outside NSW.
Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 15, were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The two older girls were refused bail, while the younger girl was granted conditional bail.
The three were due to appear in children’s court on Monday.
A 15-year-old boy was dealt with under the Youth Offenders Act.
