Cases against a three men accused of supplying cocaine in the Byron Bay area have been delayed in court after the legal parties could not come to an agreement on how to proceed.
Scott Edward Biber, 58, Philip David Emanuele, 51 and Michael Robert Birch, 68, each face numerous charges relating to the supply of cocaine in 2020.
Suffolk Park man Mr Biber was allegedly found with 1.1kg of cocaine concealed in a fire extinguisher in his possession on January 9, 2021.
The other men were arrested as a result of related investigations.
Mr Biber faces 12 charges including supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and taking part in supplying a prohibited drug.
Mr Birch, of Broken Head faces 20 charges including possessing a prohibited drug, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, supplying a prohibited drug and take part in supplying of a prohibited drug.
Mr Emanuele, of Lennox Head, faces 10 charges including five counts of taking part in the supply of a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, supplying a prohibited drug, possessing or attempting to possess a restricted substance, drug possession and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
No pleas have been entered by any of the accused.
The matters were mentioned in Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.
Prosecutor Naomi Carter told the court a number of offers had gone back and forth between the prosecution and the defence.
She said the prosecution was considering how each defence offer would work “globally” within the case.
She asked for more time to negotiate with the defence.
Each case was adjourned to October 15 when each defendant is expected to appear.
