Ryan William Wayne: McDonald’s armed robbery accused arrested

A man who allegedly robbed a McDonald’s armed with a knife on Thursday and was allowed bail on Friday was back in custody facing an assault charge on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man accused of robbing a McDonald’s armed with a knife has allegedly assaulted a person a day after being granted bail.

Ryan William Wayne’s charges of robbery armed with an offensive weapon and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm were mentioned in Tweed Local Court on Monday.

It is alleged Mr Wayne was armed with a knife when he demanded money from an employee at the McDonald’s on Minjungbal Drive near Parry Street about 11.30am on Thursday, December 2.

It is alleged he fled the scene a short time later with cash.

Mr Wayne was arrested that day and granted bail, despite police objections, when he faced Tweed Local Court on Friday, December 3.

He was again arrested after allegedly assaulting someone a day later on Saturday, December 4.

He was not required to appear in court on Monday when lawyer Lucas Swan appeared on his behalf.

Mr Swan did not apply for Mr Wayne’s bail.

He has not entered any pleas.

Mr Wayne’s assault matter will be back before the court on January 18, 2022 for mention, while the armed robbery case will be re-mentioned on February 7, 2022.
