Authorities have swarmed the Qld-NSW border in a joint operation involving cops from both states, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and the NSW Crime Commission.

NSW Police states its officers and Queensland Police hit the border for a week of action “targeting organised crime and OMCG (outlaw motorcycle gang) activities” – and items found include a Nazi flag, sawn-off rifle, meth and 100g of psilocybin ‘magic’ mushrooms.

Operation Northern Borders has involved 15 Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks and 10 arrests, as well as almost 50 charges being laid.

Crimes alleged include car thefts, gun and knife possession, being in possession of dodgy cash and supplying drugs like methamphetamines (ice).

Police found and seized the gun, eight more prohibited weapons like tasers, a knife, almost $40,000 in cash, three stolen motor vehicles, a stolen motorcycle and a stolen caravan.

NSW Police Raptor Squad has been involved and Commander Detective Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis said it was vital for interstate law enforcement to work together.

“Criminals think the moment they cross the border we can’t get them and that they are safe from the consequences of their actions,” he said.

“However, the reality can’t be further from the truth. NSW and Queensland Police are always working together to bring criminals on either side of the border to justice.

“For those criminals who try to run and hide from police, know you can’t because we will find you and we will put you before the courts.”

On Friday morning, police listed some “incidents of note”, including an FPO compliance check carried out an Kingscliff in the Tweed on Monday morning. It’s alleged “police located and seized a taser and Nazi flag”.
