A pair who allegedly stole a car at knifepoint in a Tweed shopping centre car park will spend the next two months behind bars on remand.

Georgia Eve Masterson and Johnathan Michael Egan had their matters mentioned in Tweed Local Court on Monday.

They were not required to appear.

Police allege the couple were involved in a series of armed robberies across Queensland and New South Wale on Friday last week.

It’s alleged the two were driving an allegedly stolen Porsche when Egan demanded keys to another woman’s vehicle at a Banora Point shopping centre on Leisure Drive around 8.50pm on Saturday.

It’s alleged when the woman refused, Egan, 26, later threatened a man at knifepoint in the Tweed City car park before entering his Hyundai Tucson.

Masterson, 20, allegedly joined Egan in the car, where police allege she was in possession of a gun.

Police later attended the shopping centre as the defendants tried to leave, with Egan allegedly crashing into two police cars.

They were both arrested at the scene.

Each face charges of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery with an offence weapon, possessing an unauthorised pistol and using an offensive weapon to prevent police investigation.

Egan faces a further two counts of disqualified driving.

No pleas have been entered

In court, defence lawyer Lucas Swan did not apply for bail.

He requested a brief of evidence be served and the matter was adjourned to April 19.

The accused pair are expected to appear by audiovisual link.
