A Tweed Heads grandmother has pleaded guilty to assaulting a man she lived with; allegedly telling him “I’m gonna stick a knife in you” if he called police.
Judith Van Mosseveld, 72, faced a charge of common assault in the Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday (August 29).
The Tweed Heads South woman allegedly smashed a man’s laptop, slapped him in the face and then told him “I’m gonna stick a knife in you” if he attempted to call the police after she “suddenly became agitated” about her living situation on July 9, court documents stated.
Mosseveld was frustrated about her living situation, yelling at her two housemates because of the pressure of three of them living in a small unit, according to police facts.
The victim was sitting at his desk when Mosseveld approached and threw his laptop to the floor, police facts stated.
The man got up to get his laptop when the accused slapped him across the face, the facts stated.
The victim then said, “I’m gonna call the police”, and started to dial triple-0, as Mosseveld said “if you do that I’m gonna stick a knife in you”, police alleged.
The victim then put the phone down as he did not want to agitate the situation further.
The man did not feel comfortable telling police until three days later, as this was when Mosseveld was expected to travel interstate to Brisbane to see family.
On July 12, police attended the address where the victim said he did not want any relationship with Mosseveld, or for her to continue to reside there, according to court documents.
The matter was adjourned for a Section 14 application. Mosseveld is to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on October 12.
