Elderly woman dies after fatal collision at Tumbulgum

A woman has died and two males have been taken to hospital after a collision at Tumbulgum. What’s known.

A woman aged in her 80s has died following a two-car collision at Tumbulgum this morning.

Police said the woman was a front seat passenger in one of the vehicles. She could not be revived and died at the scene.

The drivers of the two vehicles - both male - were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. Their condition is not known.

One of the males is believed to be aged in his 20s, and he sustained head and lower limb injuries.

The other is believed to be aged in his 80s, and he sustained back, head and shoulder injuries.

The crash happened at about 8.40am on Tumbulgum Road.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit and Tweed/Byron Police District are on scene.

Tumbulgum Road is closed in both directions.
