A Tweed Shire resident in their 30s has tragically lost their life to Covid-19.

The death is the 58th in the Northern NSW Health District since January 2020.

The Tweed Shire had the highest number of cases being 134 followed by:

  • Clarence Valley, 89
  • Lismore, 86
  • Byron, 72
  • Ballina, 47
  • Richmond Valley, 43
  • Kyogle, 2
  • Tenterfield, 2

One Covid-19 patient is in the intensive care unit, while 21 remain in hospital.

One person in the Tweed has lost their life to Covid-19; they were unvaccinated and had significant underlying health conditions.

The health district is urging residents to use a mask in indoor settings where you cannot maintain a safe physical distance from others; get your booster vaccine; get a test and isolate immediately if you have any Covid-19 symptoms; and to clean your hands regularly.

PCR tests are available seven-days-a-week at Lismore Base Hospital, Byron Central Hospital, North Street Grafton and The Tweed Hospital.

Anyone unable to attend a testing clinic should take a Rapid Antigen Test and isolate while awaiting a result.

If you test positive using a Rapid Antigen Test, please register your result with Service NSW.
