LACHLAN Shields future seems to be as safe as houses, with the seven-year-old Banora Point boy longing to make it big in the real estate game when he grows up.

He loves to attend weekend auctions and open houses as well as collect property pamphlets and has even put established Tweed agents to shame with his depth of knowledge of the local market.

“Lachlan is one of our regulars at auctions and rings me often to ask questions about different properties on the market,” said North Estate Agents principal Mark Humphries, who recently sold the Shield's Banora Point home. “He notices the signs in the street and gives me the details about a listing that I did not know anything about - he'll be a mover and shaker when he gets older, that's for certain.”

Lachlan has an extensive collection of real estate signs that his parents “let him put up in the backyard, not the front yard” and dreams of building his own mansion one day.

“I like looking at the different designs of houses, its fun.”

While his fire fighting dad David and administration officer mum Renee are at a loss to explain where their son's passion for real estate has come from, they are trying to support it as best as they can.

“Renee works for Perry Homes, so he knows about building but he's more interested in selling real estate,” said Mr Shields.

“He started collecting property guides when he was about four and we sometimes use them as bribery to make him do his homework. He just loves the idea of selling houses.”
