The location of a once-iconic Tweed eatery will be revived with a new paddock-to-plate restaurant.
Bellingdale Farm’s new eatery in Nunderi follows the long tenure of Treetops Restaurant, which was popular in the 90s before its closure.
A development application lodged with Tweed Shire Council proposes a $300,000 expansion of the existing restaurant space.
The property already hosts weddings, offers accommodation and boasts a restored 100-year-old dairy homestead.
Bellingdale Farm’s marketing manager Kirstin Beck said: “Bellingdale Farm is a unique rural tourism facility, we have on-site accommodation, and our business is based around our working Speckle Park cattle farm”.
“The only changes are serving food and drinks in other parts of the building, previously the gallery and retail areas,” she said.
“There are no changes to the restaurant‘s capacity, and the venue is still very much a rural tourism facility with on-site accommodation.
“We plan to open the restaurant to locals … (and) open for lunch five days a week”
“We envision the Sunday lunch to be very popular among local families, a truly unique Tweed rural tourism experience”.
“Enjoy a long lunch under our Coolamon tree, while taking in the remarkable views of Mount Warning (Wollumbin), the taste of fresh local produce or a memorable family day out at our farm”.
The new restaurant will focus on the farm’s Ekka multi-award winning Speckle Park beef operations.
“We pride ourselves on breeding award-winning Speckle Park cattle, with a strong focus on continuously improving the quality of both our stud bulls and cowherds”. Ms Beck said.
“We are passionate about sustainability, and this will be present through our nose-to-tail paddock-to-plate menu”.
It’s expected the restaurant will open in the near future.
