COMPETITIVE bidding is expected to drive the price of one of Salt Village's biggest mansions beyond the $2 million mark at auction today.

With pre-auction interest high, and an owner that wants to sell on the day, competition for the “exclusive and pri- vate residence” is ex- pected to be fierce.

Sandi Botfield, of Salt Village Real Estate, said 15-17 Angourie Street is one of very few houses in Salt Village built on a double block.

“We don't know where the bidding is going to go; all we know is it needs to be sold on the day,” she said.

Ms Botfield said the architect had created a modern, contemporary home.

“There are some very open spaces and lots of glass,” she said.

“It has been set up perfectly.”

She said the previous owner had set up office space to work from home, and the house also featured three garages secured with remote gated access.

In total there is 600 square metres of floor space on a block measuring 1392 square metres.

“The sheer size of it makes it exceptional for this area.”

The home was master-built for the builder's family and is a fortress within itself.

There are multiple outdoor entertaining and living areas, a fully tiled mosaic pool and outdoor washroom, plus a playground witha cubbyhouse and sandpit for the kids.

It is just 150m from the beach and has two outdoor showers to wash off after taking a dip in the salt water.

The auction is on-site and starts at 2pm today.
