A man has been charged after a Sydney father was shot outside his home last year.
Mohammed Saab was ambushed outside his Turrella home in August. In shocking CCTV footage the 37-year-old is seen walking to his car outside his home before his attacker emerges from the back of another car.
With one foot on the road, the hooded gunman points his weapon over his opened rear door and fires what appears to be about 13 rounds in three seconds at Mr Saab.
Following a lengthy investigation, 46-year-old Antonio Graniero was arrested at Cooper Road, Yagoona, just before 1pm on Tuesday.
He was taken to Bankstown police station where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, cultivate prohibited plant, receive stolen goods, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and two counts of larceny.
Police allege in court Mr Graniero was the driver of the vehicle used in the shooting.
Mr Graniero was refused bail and his matter was briefly mentioned in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday.
The 46-year-old did not leave his cell and the matter was adjourned until July 20.
The harrowing footage of the incident shows Mr Saab appearing to shelter behind the driver’s side door of his own vehicle as he was being shot.
As the shooter got back in the rear seat, Mr Saab ran behind his vehicle and back through his front gate and into his house, clutching his stomach.
Two women can be seen running out to meet Mr Saab at the front door of the home as the shooter left in the getaway car.
Mr Saab was shot in the shoulder, chest and leg before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition.
There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Mr Saab, a local businessman.
Investigations into the shooting are continuing.
