Towrang: Man, 73, dies in tractor incident at Murrays Flat Road

A 73-year-old man has been killed in a gut-wrenching tractor accident on his farm in the Southern Tablelands.

A man has died in a devastating tractor incident on his farm at Towrang, north of Goulburn, on Wednesday morning.

Paramedics were called to a property on Murrays Flat Rd about 11.20am, after a friend of the man went looking for him and found him deceased in a paddock.

The 73-year-old had been clearing the land on his tractor when his tractor hit a rock, causing him to fall off the vehicle and be run over by it.

The man died from his injuries.

He had left the house about 6.30am to start the work and had only slashed two rows of land when the accident occurred.

On arrival, Hume Police District officers established a crime scene and remained on the property for almost four hours.

They saw the tractor had rolled 130m down a dam and was partially submerged.

Inspector Mathew Hinton said the rescue and bomb disposal unit assisted police to rescue the tractor and that the vehicle was seized as part of their examination.

The incident is under coronial investigation and a report will be prepared shortly.
