A devastated mother cradled her two-year-old son after he was struck by car in Concord on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 3.45pm to Adams Rd and Brays Rd, Concord where they found the toddler with serious injuries.
Three ambulance crews and a Careflight helicopter attended the scene and then transported the boy and his mother to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The toddler is being treated for a compound fracture in his right leg.
The driver of the car is assisting police with their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
This comes less than a week after a 12-year-old schoolboy was killed after he was hit by an out-of-control driver in Hurstville.
