THIEVES broke into a prestigious private boys’ school and stole exam papers from a locked storage room, throwing HSC trials into chaos.
Police are investigating the late night raid which forced The Scots College to cancel HSC trial exams for Year 12 students.
Two copies of the physics trial examination were found missing from a locked cupboard inside the storage room at the eastern suburbs campus at Bellevue Hill just hours before students were due to sat the papers.
Head of curriculum Dr John Montgomery yesterday said the college, which charges combined tuition and boarding fees of up to $60,000 a year, notified police and the Catholic Secondary Schools Association which wrote and set the trial exams.
“Last night a building at The Scots College was broken into and the security was breached on a cupboard containing trial examinations prepared for this morning,” he said. “This incident is very upsetting and extremely disappointing.’’
The students were informed the trial examinations will now be rewritten and the tests rescheduled for next week.
