The Snitch: Sarah Budge gets modelling contract while awaiting gun charge trial

AS the girlfriend of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim and with a gun trial set to be heard in court, model Sarah Budge has developed something of a bad girl image. And it turns out that image hasn’t affected her ability to get modelling work.

Police have ‘genuine concerns’ for revenge attack on John Ibrahim

AS the girlfriend of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim and with a gun trial set to be heard in court, model Sarah Budge has developed something of a bad girl image.

And it turns out that image hasn’t affected her ability to get modelling work.

A Snitch correspondent spotted an oversized poster featuring Ms Budge in an outlet of Rockmans.

Which set us wondering if the company knows Ms Budge is to face court over a Glock pistol that had the serial number scratched off, which was allegedly found in her eastern suburbs apartment during police raids in 2017.

It turns out they do.

The 28-year-old recently picked up a modelling contract with Rockmans and features in the fashion outlet’s current marketing campaign on in-store posters and website wearing the store’s fashion items, including the “border print maxi dress”.

But we’re told Ms Budge’s gig with the fashion outlet, which is owned by the Noni B Group, will be retired soon after her court case starts. Ms Budge, according to one source, also had to be completely transparent about her legal situation with the company when going for the modelling gig.

Ms Budge is facing three charges that each carry a maximum 14 years in jail.

She is scheduled to face a readiness hearing next month.

LAWYER’S XMAS BAIL

The lawyer charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder of 15-year-old Brayden Dillon will face court tomorrow in the hope of getting out of jail before Christmas.

High-profile criminal lawyer Ali Abbas was refused bail in Central Local Court last week after being charged with being accessory after the fact to the murder in which the teen was shot dead as he was sleeping in his western Sydney bed.

Police will allege Mr Abbas co-ordinated and facilitated a series of false affidavits that were intended to distance key suspects thought to be behind the execution-style shooting. Investigators believe Brayden was killed in a revenge attack after his older brother, Joshua, allegedly stabbed Adam Abu-Mahmoud to death during a street brawl at Panania in 2016.

With the first bail attempt failed, Mr Abbas is now listed to face the NSW Supreme Court tomorrow, when he will make another bid for freedom as his case progresses.

HANGING UP THE WIG

AFTER a legal career that saw her rise to become a Supreme Court judge followed by a controversial stint as the head of ICAC, Megan Latham has quietly retired.

We’re told Ms Latham didn’t want the fanfare of a big farewell and quietly rode off into the sunset in July.

During her career, Ms Latham spent time as a crown prosecutor at the ODPP before being elevated as a judge in the NSW District Court.

She was appointed as a NSW Supreme Court judge in 2005. Among the noteworthy cases she presided over was that of Roger Dean whom Ms Latham jailed for life in 2013 after he pleaded guilty to the murder of 11 elderly residents of a Quakers Hill aged-care facility that he set on fire.

In 2014, Ms Latham was appointed as the head of the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

The move ended up damaging her reputation after Ms Latham led ICAC’s failed investigation into her former ODPP colleague, the high-profile crown prosecutor Margaret Cunneen SC.

Sources said the controversy surrounding the investigation may have contributed to Ms Latham wanting to retire quietly.

A NSW Supreme Court spokeswoman declined to comment on whether there was a party.

“Her last day was July 27, 2018,” the spokeswoman said.

If there was a party, we’re assuming that Ms Cunneen was not on the guest list.

OH BROTHER

IT would be fair to say the brother of Test cricketer Usman Khawaja has hit a run of bad form.

Arsalan Tariq Khawaja was recently linked to a counter-terror investigation and he has now been charged with stealing a mobile phone from a council ranger who was trying to book him.

Khawaja was listed to face Waverley Local Court last week charged with one count of stealing from a person.

According to court documents, the alleged incident took place after 8.40am on August 23 at Randwick when a ranger wrote up Khawaja for parking in a disabled spot.

Khawaja, from Hornsby, allegedly got into an argument with the ranger and stole the phone.

The 39-year-old was issued with a court attendance notice on September 18 and the matter
is ongoing.
