Another prison guard is in strife for allegedly sparking up a relationship with an inmate.

Female corrections officer Melissa Goodwin, from the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre, was stood down temporarily last week after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a recently released inmate.

An internal investigation is under way to figure out when that alleged relationship began — behind bars or on the outside.

The inmate involved is an aspiring rapper, who, according to Instagram, recorded one of his newest hits inside the walls of a Sydney jail.

His alleged love interest didn’t get a mention in the lyrics, but there were a few unoriginal shout outs to the “dogs”.

A Corrective Services spokeswoman said the officer was stood down temporarily on Thursday following allegations of misconduct.

“It is alleged the officer failed to declare an association with an offender,” she said.

“The matter has been referred to the Corrective Services Investigations Unit.” No charges have been laid.

SEE YOU IN COURT

The waiting list for a Supreme Court jury trial may be shorter than Sydney’s legal fraternity thinks.

Some jury trials could resume as early as next month, in line with a similar timeline enacted by the NSW District Court.

The COVID-19 pandemic has slowed the wheels of justice when it comes to trials — the idea of putting 12 people shoulder-to-shoulder in a box for days on end has been unthinkable.

One judge presiding over a murder pre-trial hearing in the Supreme Court last week said it was unlikely any previously scheduled trials would be going ahead before November unless the accused appeared by audiovisual link.

However Chief Justice Tom Bathurst flagged a move towards normality next month.

“Subject to being satisfied on health issues for all participants, some Supreme Court jury trials may resume on 29 June 2020,” he told The Sunday Telegraph.

OH, YOU MEAN THAT NOMADS VEST?
A prominent Sydney lawyer has found himself in the crosshairs of a gangs intelligence report over some office decor.

A reliable source informs Snitch the lawyer was spotted with a Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang vest hanging over his office chair recently.

The vest and the lawyer’s reason for keeping it was brought to the attention of NSW Police. Snitch suspects they’ll have a hard time finding anything inappropriate considering the criminal defence solicitor’s line of work and clientele.
