It’s a busy time for new parents, former NRL bad boy Todd Carney and MAFS star Susie Bradley, who have secured council approval for an extension to their newly acquired Gold Coast home.
The couple, who celebrated the birth of son Lion a month ago, are set to add internal space to their home at Benowa, not far from the Nerang River.
The paperwork advises they are adding 34sqm to the first floor at a cost of around $50,000.
The couple, who are planning their wedding after getting engaged in October, grabbed the keys to the two-storey home late last year for $1.07 million.
It was the second time the four-bedroom home had sold in 2020, having sold at $960,000 just a few months earlier.
The late 1990s-built home, that sits on a 600sqm holding, has two living spaces, a stacked stone feature wall, a media room and office.
Bradley has a beauty clinic business at Jimboomba.
Carney, now a concreter after playing for the Raiders, Sharks and Roosters as well as in the UK Super League, had been a keen Sydney property investor, but those properties have been sold in his move north.
Carney did well when he sold three apartments last year. He secured $1.4 million for an apartment bought in 2010 at $880,000. A Waverley unit bought for $607,000 in 2011 fetched $905,500, and his Sans Souci investment fetched $600,500 after he paid $460,000 off the plan in 2012.
He has also bought a Queensland investment, paying $222,000 at Theodore, west of Bundaberg, for a three-bedroom home, previously traded at $238,000 in 2015. It has become a $350-a-week rental.
DIXONS SECURE SALE
The latest downsizing of former Qantas chief Geoff Dixon and his wife Dawn was secured in quick time.
After just 17 days on the market, they found their Darling Point buyer from the 70 people through its first two open homes.
They had $10 million hopes for their two-level New Beach Rd apartment, which has views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, across the yachts at d’Albora Marina.
Eleventh-hour buyers for the 438sqm space, listed through Raine and Horne agents Ric Serrao and Alex Lyons, were being told they needed to offer more than $11 million.
The couple bought the three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment for $8.65 million in 2016. Director Victor Topper and wife Sandra were the first buyers in 2008 at $7.2 million.
Dixon, who led Qantas between 2001 and 2008 when he was succeeded by Alan Joyce, has been a regular walking their dog on the popular promenade lined by Moreton Bay fig trees.
The Dixons had previously been in a harbourfront Woolloomooloo apartment, and before that a two-storey The Rocks apartment after selling their Balmoral mansion in 2018 for $8 million.
They have been looking around the neighbourhood since last year at offerings including David Waterhouse’s $5.4m apartment, perhaps as a prospective buyer or maybe just gauging prices.
New Beach Rd’s latest listing has had close to 2000 views since its posting by rag trader Ray Pillion. The two-level space, last traded at $6.5m in 2010, comes with an $8m guide through Ray White agents Cae Thomas and Gavin Rubinstein.
ORLY LAVEE HEADS TO THE HARBOUR
Sydney doctor Orly Lavee, the former partner of TV presenter Andrew O’Keefe, has shifted harbourside.
Lavee, a haematologist, has traded in Randwick for Point Piper, paying $3 million for a three-bedroom apartment.
Her apartment, marketed as house-sized, is set in Santa Barbara, a 1920s Spanish Mission block overlooking Lady Chinamans Beach.
The first-floor apartment was recently renovated and has harbour views from its 190sqm of living space.
It spent a year on the market before being sold by Laing + Simmons agent Sally Hampshire.
Lavee bought the apartment late last year, and settled on the place only recently after selling at Randwick in the interim for $2,025,000 through McGrath Estate Agents.
The complex block of six saw former TV entrepreneur and Number 96 actor Harry Micheals sell for $3.7 million through Ray White for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment after being on and off the market for two years.
It sold to an investor from Longueville, who is seeking $1800 a week tenants for the ground floor apartment.
VITOCCO INVESTS IN BARANGAROO
Western Sydney entrepreneur Arnold Vitocco and his wife Irene were the biggest buyers who settled into the One Barangaroo apartment tower this week. The couple spent $22 million on their 63rd floor off the plan.
Liverpool-born, Bringelly-based Vitocco was last in the news in 2019 when he went into partnership with United Cinema Group to revive and expand the Max Brenner coffee and chocolate brand throughout Asia Pacific.
Online marketing entrepreneur Andrew Raso spent $11.1 million for his 57th-floor apartment.
He was the first of those who’ve settled over the past fortnight who took a mortgage for their leasehold purchase in the Crown Resort project.
Retired bookie Bob Blann is the biggest known buyer, paying $41 million for his whole floor in the WilkinsonEyre designed casino complex, where the gambling has yet to commence.
FIT FOR SECOND TRY
Fitness First founder Tony de Leede is trying again to sell his redundant Bondi Beach dress circle apartment, sticking it up for auction on May 15.
This time he’s got The Agency’s Edward Reid quoting $6 million.
The three-bedroom offering in Pacific Bondi spans 185sqm internally, with a further 35sqm of outdoor entertaining area facing the beach.
De Leede paid $3.85m off the plan in 2012, three years before the redevelopment of the hotel was complete.
The apartment was initially listed last April with a $6 million guide.
De Leede upgraded Bondi apartments last year, paying $6.15m for an abode in The Bondi.
