THEY weren’t even born when the film was a box office smash hit, but that won’t stop these boys from taking a lead role when The Bodyguard hits the stage next month.
Rome Champion, 10, from Pyrmont; Tyrese Medina, 8, from Russell Lea; Chetachi Nwaogazi, 10, from Yagoona and Joshua Scott, 11, from Carss Park, will rotate the role of Fletcher, the son of music superstar Rachel Marron.
“I’ve only seen a little clip of the film with my Nana. Mum and I are going to watch it on the weekend — she says it’s so great and the singing is amazing,” Tyrese said.
Singer Paulini will play Marron, the character made famous on screen by the late Whitney Houston.
“It was really interesting, sitting around with them, I felt like I was with my nephews, they’re so adorable,” Paulini said of meeting the boys.
“It’s going to be fun, they were really quite down to earth and cheeky at the same time, and you need that for theatre.”
The Bodyguard opens at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on April 21, tickets on sale at ticketmaster.com.au.
