Sydney taxi hits pedestrian in inner city in front of stunned onlookers

Onlookers watched helplessly as a 67-year-old woman collapsed to the ground at the intersection of Goulburn and Sussex streets, just before 12.30pm on Sunday, after being hit by a taxi.

A woman, 67, is in hospital after sustaining injuries when struck by a taxi in the Sydney CBD.

Onlookers watched agog as the woman collapsed to the ground at the intersection of Goulburn and Sussex streets, just before 12.30pm on Sunday.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to hospital in a serious condition.

The taxi driver, a 67-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command have set up a crime scene and investigations are being carried out by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
