Boarded up windows, the constant running of generators and lights and large amounts of garbage are all signs you could be living next to a cannabis growing ‘hydro house’.
The makeshift drug labs have been cropping up across Sydney’s suburbs with most neighbours unaware until the police come knocking.
Redfern Region Enforcement Squad Investigators did just that yesterday, uncovering a hydroponic house in Sydney’s south.
Officers searched a property on Morotai Ave, Riverwood, around midday on Wednesday, allegedly seizing 92 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $274,000.
Two people, a 51-year-old man and 54-year-old woman, were later arrested at Ryde and charged with serious drug offences.
They were both refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
Police also searched two more homes on Samuel St, Ryde and William St, Riverwood as investigations continue.
