Sydney Airport braces for massive Easter holiday rush
Nearly two-and-a-half million travellers are expected through the terminals of Sydney Airport over the coming days. Here’s what you need to know if flying.

Sydney Airport is gearing up for its biggest Easter crowds since the start of the pandemic as nearly two-and-a-half million travellers are expected to walk through its terminals.
More than 1.5 million domestic passengers and 850,000 international passengers are set to take to the sky from April 3 to April 23 which is a 90 per cent recovery compared to the equivalent Easter holiday peak in 2019.
Of those two-and-a-half million approximately 120,000 will be boarding planes this Easter Long weekend, with some of the most popular destinations include Melbourne, Gold Coast, USA, and Bali.
In preparation for the chaotic weekend, Sydney Airport have staffed hundreds of extra workers to try and halt any delays and keep lines moving.
However even with extra staff, domestic travellers are asked arrive one hour prior to departure if carrying hand luggage only, and two hours prior to for passengers with checked baggage.
International passengers are advised to arrive three hours prior to departure.
Uber is also jumping in to ask customers to pre-book so that nobody is left on the curb waiting for a ride that never comes.
Travellers looking to park their car at the airport are advised to book ahead to guarantee a parking spot and those commuting via public transport are recommended to plan ahead to ensure a hassle-free trip.
