Suspicious fire guts front of Merrylands home as police launch investigation

A suspicious late-night fire has caused significant damage to a home in Sydney’s west, prompting police to establish a crime scene as investigations continue.

A suspicious fire has gutted the front of a home in Sydney’s west overnight, with police now investigating the cause of the blaze.

Emergency services were called to a property on Badham St in Merrylands shortly before 11.30pm, following reports of a house fire.

The blaze was extinguished by a neighbour before fire crews arrived, but the home sustained significant damage to the front.

No one was inside the house at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Police have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.
