A fire has ravished a small service station in Sydney’s west, forcing some residents to evacuate their homes in fear.
Fifty firefighters were called to the blaze on Hamilton Rd, Fairfield, about 12.30pm on December 9.
Large flames and dark plumes of smoke billowed from the scene, prompting the evacuation of evacuate nearby residents.
Sonny, who lives next to the station, said he was playing video games when the incident occurred.
“I was playing Fortnite when my neighbours banged on the door and told me about the fire,” he said.
“When I came out I couldn’t even see smoke, it was just flames shooting in the sky.
“I ran because I was worried it would blow up,” he said.
While the cause of the fire is unknown, eyewitnesses believe a car caught on fire on the station’s forecourt.
Footage seen by The Daily Telegraph shows a car engulfed by flames at the station.
Residents were forced to wait nearby while fireys brought the blaze under control.
The residents returned to their homes once atmospheric testing was complete, according to firefighters.
The fire was contained in the early afternoon and emergency services remained on scene as a precaution.
There were no reported injuries.
