A Sydney man will remain behind bars on remand after police allegedly unearthed a cache of illicit drugs at a Surry Hills flat, including MDMA, meth, and magic mushrooms.
Matthew Naivasha, 39, appeared before Parramatta court on Friday on a range of drugs charges, including large scale drug supply and dealing with criminal proceeds.
Police executed a search warrant at a unit on Elizabeth St on Thursday following an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs around the Surry Hills area.
Documents tendered to court reveal the size of the drugs stash allegedly seized by police at the unit, including 369.65g of psilocybin (mushrooms), 63.96g of MDMA, and 70.65g of cocaine – all of which Naivsha is alleged to have supplied.
Officers also allegedly seized a further 1.39g of meth, as well as $11,890 in cash, various identification documents police believe to have been unlawfully obtained, a hydraulic press, and electronic scales.
Naivasha did not apply for release on bail at Parramatta Bail Court on Friday, after he told Magistrate Sharon Holdsworth he should have been legally represented.
The court heard Naivasha was expected to be representing himself.
He will appear before Downing Centre Local Court on April 11.
